Obituary of Carrie Nell Evans

Carrie Nell (Stein) Evans daughter of Amos Stein and Annie (Nolan) Stein was born March 30, 1946 in Georgiana, Alabama. She gained her wings at Glen Arbor Hospice on February 8, 2023. After graduation she married Elijah Evans Jr. and they moved to Battle Creek, MI in 1967. They were married 17 yrs. and later divorced in 1982. Carrie graduated from Albion High School in 1965 and Kellogg Community College in 1996 with an Associate in Arts degree. She was also very close to obtaining a Bachelor's degree as well. 

Carrie’s first job as a child was babysitting and later on worked at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. She retired from the Kellogg Company in 1998 after working there nearly 26 yrs. After one year of retirement, she went back to work at Omni Credit Union for six yrs. before retiring from there as well. She also enjoyed volunteering at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and working for the Battle Creek Public School system in the Grandparents program until she became ill. 

She was baptized at Grace Temple Church of God in Christ in Albion, Michigan. Later she attended Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Unity Missionary Baptist Church and First Salem Baptist Church. She served on many boards throughout her walk with Christ. She was on the Nurses guild, Usher board, taught children's Sunday school and worked in Finance. She was a strong woman of faith that enjoyed spending time with her family on the holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, reading, doing puzzles, taking cruises, shopping and watching her favorite tv shows like Columbo, Westerns, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.

Carrie leaves to cherish her memory, Daughter: Paula D. Stein, Sons: Michael A. Evans and Christopher E. (Crystal) Evans. 13 grandchildren: Tomeka Stein, Alonda Robinson, September Robinson, Corey Evans, Bryan Evans, AnnEssence Robinson, Renee Evans, Eric Evans, Shaun Evans, Michelle Evans, Tyler Boggess, Breanna Evans and Alexis Goheen. 20 great-grandchildren: Daijarlon Stein, Jamereon Stein, Juleono Whitlock, Kamareona Stein, Havier Williams, JayLeon Mays, Zakari Whitlock, Jaylieana Mays, Christian Daws, Gionni Daws, Malaysha Whitlock, Eric Evans Jr., Omar Williams Jr., Xavier Evans, Greyson Clark-Evans, Julian Evans, Giovanni Poindexter, Xaina Evans, Gabriel Clark-Evans, Malik Poindexter. One great-great-grandchild: Ryleigh Stein. Sister: Janet Stein.  Special sisters: Mary Stein, Lola Evans, Paralee Bowman, Gladys (Dennis) Reid, Paula Evans and Robbie Evans. Special brother: Tommy Evans of Albion, MI, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents Amos and Annie (Nolan) Stein and Brothers: Willie Nolan, Willie Crenshaw, Joffie Stein Sr., and Richard Stein Sr.
