Obituary of Darlene Marie Liggins

Darlene was born on November 25, 1951 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the union of Vern Schwarz and Barbara (DeVries) McBarnes. While working as a receptionist at Rambling Road Pediatrics, she met John Liggins and his sons. John and Darlene were married on March 6, 2000 and she fell in love with his sons as though she had given birth to them. Darlene was kind, selfless and had a true heart of gold. She loved spending time with her family; her grandbabies were so precious to her. She also loved bird watching in the backyard and gardening. She took such pride in her summer flowers. Darlene also had a gift of cooking. Her family never went home hungry after Sunday dinners! Darlene departed this life on Monday, February 14, 2022. She is preceded in death by both of her parents and stepfather, Bob McBarnes. Left to cherish her memories is her stepmom, Jenny Schwarz, her loving husband, John Liggins and her 7 sons: Michael Morman, Timothy (Oemeeka) Liggins, Steven (Shyanna) Liggins, Gregory (Nicol) Liggins, John Vincent, Lee Joseph (Lydia) Smith and Brendan James Smith; her 10 grandchildren: Gabriel, Olivia, Grayson, Kya, Addy, Lily, Jryah, Miracle, Brendan Jr., and Heaven; 1 brother Vern (Mary) Schwarz; 2 sisters: Terri (Steve) Moses and Michelle (Dave) Young: 5 stepbrothers, 2 stepsisters, 7 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in-laws along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
