Obituary of Michael Lamont Johnson, Sr.

The one and only Michael Lamont Johnson Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones in the home he grew up in on 1418 Charles Street on Friday November 2, 2018 in Kalamazoo Michigan. Michael, the youngest child of the late Greta & Russell Johnson. Michael’s story starts in Kalamazoo Michigan on Thursday, July 12, 1951.  He attended Kalamazoo Public Schools and received an Associate Degree from Gogebic Community College in 1977. Michael later lived throughout the Midwest and California. Michael was a natural born hustler and was self-employed. Michael loved to shoot pool, had a passion for classic cars, enjoyed watching sports and cheered on both pro and collegiate Michigan teams. He loved to read the newspaper daily while enjoying a cup of coffee. Michael loved his family dearly, was loyal to his friends and loved by all.  Michael is survived by his wife Julia Johnson three sisters and three brothers, Paula Elam, Deborah Johnson, Roselyn (Brown) Johnson, Russell Johnson Jr., Anthony (Tony) Johnson and Darryl Johnson. His life will be forever be cherished in the lives of his children; Stephanie Peake, Robert Lewis, Letasia Johnson, Emon Peake, Jacqueline Johnson, Michael Johnson Jr. and Tramell Orr. Eleven Grandchildren; Miguel Peake, Kesharia Lewis, Demetrius Roberts, Marquevion Peake, Isaiah Maikoski, Demia Roberts, Jasaum Sowell, Yazmin Peake, Emanuel Peake, Quelaun Sowell, Royce Peake, Jayden Orr, Jordon Orr and twelve great grandchildren.   Special Friends; Adam (Moe) Paylis Sr., Tommy (Bubbalou) Williams, Fred Prewitt, and he will be reuniting with Jeff Russell and Edward (Pancho) McGee. Michaels wishes and last words to many was that he did not want his passing to be a sad occasion, instead, he wanted his family and friends to remember the good times and celebrate his life and “party likes its 1999”
