Obituary of Larry Alan Tassell

Larry Alan Tassell age 67 of Climax, Mi. passed away Sunday June 10, 2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, Mich. of cancer.

Larry was born on November 16, 1950 to Kenneth & Laura Beach Tassell in Kalamazoo, Mi. He was the first born of 6 children. 

Larry was married to Sally Northrup on July 17, 1971.  They had 5 children, Kenneth Charles (Tiffany) Tassell of Arizona, Jill (Jonathan) Giles, Megan Tassell, Andrew Tassell and Jamie (Brian) Correa, all from Southern California. After 25 years of marriage Larry & Sally divorced in 1996 but always remained good friends and stayed in contact regarding their children.  

He was preceded in death by his Father Kenneth in 1966, age 36, Baby brother Russell C. Tassell 1956 age 15 months and his youngest son Andrew Scott Tassell age 35.

He is survived by 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. 

He is also survived by his Mother Laura Beach (Jim) LaRoy of Zephyrhills, Florida,  sister Patricia (Art) Moelaart of Lake Linden, Mich, Brother Kenneth Warren Tassell (Laura) of Carmel, Indiana, sister Joan (Brent) Henderson, of Scotts and sister Janet (Steve) Kline of Vicksburg. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews & cousins. 

Larry was employed the majority of his adult life with Georgia Pacific in Buena Park, Ca transferring to Owosso, Mi in 1991 until he retired.

One of Larry’s favorite past times was riding his unicycle.   He had an amazing talent for this unusual skill.  Everyone was so impressed watching him ride it.  He also loved cooking, fishing, hunting and being with his friends and family. 

Grave side services will be held June 27 at 4PM at Boughton Cemetery at Pavilion Township Scott’s Michigan. He will be buried next to his beloved Father Kenneth C Tassell.  With a reception to follow at the American Legion Hall 6101 S 44th St. Climax, MI 49034. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kalamazoo Cancer Center where Larry was being treated for cancer.

RIP Dad, Grandpa, Son, brother, uncle, cousin & friend.  He will be greatly missed and loved by all forever.
