Obituary of Regan Lee Capps
Regan Lee Capps departed this world, in the same manner she lived in it, surrounded by the love of friends and family on Tuesday, May 8th at 11:47 p.m. after finding victory in peace from her long and arduous battle with cancer.
Regan was born August 7th of 2001 in Denver Colorado at 5:23 a.m. At age 8, while attending Woodslake Elementary School, she was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyo Sarcoma. After several years of fight through remission and recurrences, Regan eventually contracted a seconday, post radial cancer that eventually took her life.
In her days spent out of the hospital, Regan loved to draw and paint and pick up any musical instrument she could get her hands on and give it her best shot. She loved discovering new music and singing along to her favorite songs, keeping up with her animes, cooking shows, and adventuring with her friends. One of Regan's most notable qualities was her deep concern for others who had been affected by cancer. Be it through her participation in research studies, her cancer ward concerts to lift the spirits of her floormates, or through her aspiration to one day become an oncology nurse, it was her hope that all that she had worked toward and suffered through would come to make a positive impact on the lives of cancer survivors and their families. During her short time on this earth, Regan was a talented artist, a courageous fighter, a loving daughter and sister, and a caring friend.
She is survived by her five siblings, Brittney, Alyssa, Evan, Joey, and Justine, her parents Angela Carpenter & Andy Capps, her beloved pet snake, Athena, and her biological mother Sammantha Long. Along with grandparents Linda & Gary Carpenter, a host of aunts, uncles, and loving friends. She was preceeded in death by her paternal grandparents, Nancy & Sonny McCurry, and her great grandparents, John & Ann Long, and Ellen Aumiller, as well as her friends Haylee Lewis & Caitlyn Bishop.
