Obituary of Mildred Fields
Mildred Fields, 77 peacefully departed this life on May 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ferriday, LA, she was the daughter of Rev. Daniel Fields, Sr. and Hattie Lively Fields. She was employed by the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in Battle Creek, MI and Phoenix, AZ, retiring in 2003.
Mildred accepted the Lord at a young age attending Sunflower Baptist Church in Ferriday, and was a longtime member of Open Door Community Church of God in Christ (Faith Assembly Christian Fellowship) in Battle Creek, and Prayer Assembly Church of God in Christ when she relocated to Phoenix, AZ. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, baking, playing bingo, spending time with her family and travelling. Mildred will be remembered for her quiet, easy going manner and subdued, gentle smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rev Daniel, Sr. and Hattie Fields; brothers Roosevelt Fields and Daniel Fields Jr.; sisters Queen Ester Fields and Clara Morrison; and son Brian Fields.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Valerie Fields and Deborah Fields, 11 grandchildren including Brianna Fields, Jasmine Wilson & Bryan Fields, siblings Harrison (Lorraine) Fields, Lou Bertha (Paul) Cheatham, Dorothy Minter, Margaret (Kenneth) Richardson, Odessa (Valanders) Martin, Samuel (Gladys) Fields, Petry (James) Standback and Brady (Rachel) Fields, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
