Obituary of Rose Etta Sims
Rose Etta Sims was born on Wednesday, February 19, 1958 to Margaret (Lipsey) Sims and David John Henry Sims in Battle Creek, MI. She departed this life on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in (at) Bronson HealthCare.
She received her early childhood education through Battle Creek Public Schools and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1976. She volunteered for Sexual Assault Services and the Battered Women’s Shelter of Battle Creek. She was employed by Battle Creek Public Schools, Kellogg’s Company, and Battle Creek Health Systems, until she retired in November of 2009.
Christ was introduced and she excepted at a young age. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem COGIC under the leadership of Eld. Jesse Hooper, Supt. Leon Orr, and Sanctuary of Praise under Supt. Harrison LeMon. She became a member of OverComers Christian Center COGIC under the leadership of Supt. John Griggs in May of 2016.
Miss’y Rose, or affectionately called “Missionary”, had serious concerns for truth and righteousness. She was appointed District Missionary in February 2011, Southwest Michigan Jurisdiction 1 under the leadership of Bishop John Sheard and Mother Regina Edwards.
The feelings of others were not as important as God’s way for man, which is perfectly revealed through His word. She was structured, organized and firm. Her devoted attitude towards holiness made her a legend in her time.
Although she served the church with great dedication, her best energies were focused on her sons and grandchildren. She taught them to love God and the church.
Though Miss’y Rose was battling many health issues, this by no means deferred her from doing what she loved most, being faithful to the ministry and family; she traveled and shopped as though she had no limits. Miss’y Rose loved all people, regardless of age, race, and background. She was truly a people person and an ardent worker for the Lord. She was an example of living and being a “Proverbs 31 woman.”
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons; Brandon M. Davis of Chicago, IL., Eric D. Davis of Battle Creek, MI.; her grandchildren: Koriyon (Davis) Robinson A’Kari Davis, and Heaven Davis; seven sisters: Carol Lee of Detroit, MI., Marilyn Savage of Flower Mound, TX., Janet Ferguson of Cincinnati, OH., Patricia (Johnnie) Brown, Margaret Sims, Sarah Sims, L. Renee (Steve) Irby all of Battle Creek, MI., and one brother Cecil (Diane) Grantham of Owings Mills, Maryland; along with a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and special sister/friends Wilda Nelms and Pam Williams.
Then I heard a voice form heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Revelation 14:13
