Isiah Slaughter

Obituary of Isiah Slaughter

Isaiah Slaughter passed away peacefully at his home at the Bronson Fountains on March 28, 2018.  He was born August 25, 1923 in Houston, Mississippi, as an only child to Annie Donaldson and Tom Slaughter. He is preceded him in death by his parents and also his wife of over 50 years, Sis. Annie Pearl.

Bro. “Bottom” (as he was affectionately known) due to the Black Bottom dance he could do so well was an active member of Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Wright, and later Pastor Strick Strickland. He served the Lord all of his life and was a member of the Second Baptist Church Male Chorus.

Bro. “Bottom” worked many years for General Motors in Comstock, MI and Murcos in Planiwell, MI.  He proudly served in the United States military, during WWII and was honorably discharged, after 3 years of service.  “Bottom” loved baseball, when others wanted to discuss other sports, he’d simply say, “I’m a baseball man!” He is remembered for his love of singing up until his passing.

Bro. “Bottom” leaves to cherish his memory his only daughter Ora Mae (Willie) Lee and two grandchildren, Willie Lee, Jr. and Termia Lee of Kalamazoo. Two beautiful great-grandchildren, Inneary Johnson-Lee and Roland Johnson, Jr. of Kalamazoo, MI; Also cherishing his memory is his loving sister, Sis. Mary Kate Gibson of Kalamazoo, MI. and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Kalamazoo, MI.

Bro. “Bottom” lived to see 94 years of life on earth and as we celebrate him and his life, the word of the Lord reminds us in Isaiah 46:4, “Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you” (New American Standard Version).
