Obituary of Charles Everett Word
Charles “Moonie” Word passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. Born March 21,1946 to the late Rosie Lee & Henry Word, Moonie was a graduate of Kalamazoo Public Schools, a former State worker and held a host of various factory jobs. His talents were many; He enjoyed watching the view from his front porch, joking with his family and friends as well as making others smile as he traveled all across Kalamazoo in his power scooter. As a member of First United Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, MI he served as an Usher and attended bible study. He is proceeded in death by three brothers Eugene, James, Bobby Word and an infant grandson.
He is survived by his children Tonia Smith, Gaila Smith, Christopher and Tracy Smith (Daughter-in-Law), 5 Granddaughters, 2 Grandsons, 6 Great Grandchildren, a special Daughter and Son
(Carmela and Kenneth Streeter), his Brothers Earl and Terry Word, Sister-in-Law Helen Word, an Aunt, Mary Kate Gibson, an Uncle, Curtis Word and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will take place on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11am at First United Baptist Church, with Pastor Lenzy E. Bell, Officiating Pastor. Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery immediately following service.
