Obituary of Jammie Lee McKinney
Jammie Lee McKinney went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 7, 2018. She was born on June 24, 1945, to Henry Lawler Sr and Alberta (Jackson) Lawler. Jammie was the 2nd of 8 children and the oldest daughter. She was affectionately known as “Sistah” by her family and close friends.
Jammie attended and graduated from Albion High School in 1963. She went on to further her education and attended Argubright Business College and received her degree in 1967. Jammie started working for Federal Center in 1966 as Secretary, and in 1968 she worked for Ameritech. After being at Ameritech for over 30 years, she retired as Maintenance Repair Operator.
Jammie married the love of her life, Marcus Eugene McKinney, Sr. and to this union, they raised five children. She faithfully enjoyed working in the church! She was over the kitchen, and she was on the usher board. She loved making everyone else happy if that meant taking off her shirt to give to them, she would! With no questions asked! She enjoyed bowling, and spending time with her family and traveling with her girlfriend's.
Jammie leaves to forever cherish her memory, her children: Tina Wyrick of Indianapolis, IN., Marcus (Tila) McKinney of Pittsburgh, PA., Sabrina (Don) Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; her grandchildren: Richard, Landon, Brianna, Shaveena, Chanelle, Martinque; her stepchildren: Only by paper! By heart they were hers: Marquette (Phillip) Patterson of Jackson, MI., and Mark (Raquel) Bell of Battle Creek, MI.; her sister: Janice (Allen) White of Albion, MI.; her brother James Lawler of Marshall, MI.; sister in Laws: Delores, Dora, Pokey Mary, and Donna; her grandchildren: LaShawn, TaMesha, Shanna, Mark and Tyreek, along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marcus E. McKinney, Sr.; her parents Alberta and Henry Lawler Sr.; her siblings: Henrietta, Patricia, William, Henry Jr, and Terry.
Although Jammie has departed from this life, her life and legacy will live on through all who knew and loved her.
