Obituary of Ella Mae Stallworth
Ella Mae Stallworth passed away January 1st at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Mi. She was born March 11, 1945, in Houlka, MS to Annie Jewel Calligton and Gaston Simmons.
Ella is the first of 7 children. The family moved to Kalamazoo in 1951. Ella was 6yrs old. She was employed at the Ramada Inn as a housekeeper for several years. She later met and married Lee Willie Bonds December 1968, after several years later, they divorce.
Ella later reunited with Carl (Roger) Stallworth and after a few years, they were joined as one February 12, 1994, 23 years. God lead Ella and her husband to Lansing to better their lives. There, they found an Awesome NA Group in Lansing where they met wonderful people who became their family. They were faithful, dedicated members. She remained clean for 11yrs, and she was so very proud of herself, as her family.
Ella's favorite food was food. But her all-time favorite is starch, greens of any kind and cornbread which she'll eat with her fingers while watching and fussing at "Young and the Restless." Ella has a lot of friends but a few that hold dearly in her heart. Rhonda Hurd, Sally Lovelace, Janice Hartman, Crystal Robinson and Ivory Lee.
Ella is preceded in death by her Mother, Annie Jewel Calligton and Father, Gaston Simmons, Grandmother, Lillie Lou Donaldson, Niece, Breeon Whitfield, Step Dad, Frank Johnson, Grandfather, James Cook, Grandfather, Jim "Uncle Bud" Thompson, and best friend Carol "Mae Perkins" Hodges.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory 4 children, Jeffery Simmons, Michael Simmons, Tammy Simmons all of Kalamazoo and Toya (Slyvester) Tucker, Stepdaughter, Sontay Stallworth all of Battle Creek, Mi. 3 brothers, Bobby (Sandra) Calligton, Edward Calligton and Scott Gates all of Kalamazoo. 3 Sisters, Annie "Niecy" Calligton, Tracy Calligton and Kim (Duke) Whitfield all of Kalamazoo. 4 Aunts Eloise Hightower, Marie Coleman, Wilma Cook and a very special Aunt whom she grew up with, Emmie (Robert) Saleem. 2 uncles, Herny Cook and Leamon Cook.15 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
