Obituary of Wendell Thomas Mihalek

Wendell “Bill” Mihalek peacefully passed away on April 21, 2017 in Portage, Michigan at the age of 94.  He was born on October 8, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio to the proud parents of Charles and Anna Mihalek. Bill bravely served his country. He was a decorated Corporal of the US Army and was in combat in World War ll, from which he was awarded Two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, a Combat Infantry Badge and several other honors.

He was a humble man who never spoke of his military metals or the bravery he endured after being wounded several times; returning to war as a patriot for his country. Bill met his loving wife at a VFW dance, Annie was the love of his life and they where married on September 8, 1947. He loved being with his family which was one of the most precious thing that he  valued, especially after losing his wife.  In is lesure time he enjoyed sports, shuffle board and playing cards. 

Bill is survived by his four sons: John Mihalek, Wendell Mihalek, Jr., Frank (Robin) Mihalek 
and Victor Mihalek; his grandchildren Dawny, Roger, Michelle, Marcie, Nina, Rachel, Amanda, Anthony, and Nicholas; 6 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna (Catolica) Mihalek, daughter Sharon Royal-Mihalek, and parents Charles and Anna (Gilva) Mihalek, Sr., brothers: George, Charles, Edward, John, Baby John, and Franky Mihalek.
