Obituary of Delmar Leroy Harley
Delmar Harley passed away on April 3, 2017. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI. on August 7, 1980 to the proud parents of Daniel and Cathy Harley. Delmar loved making music, fishing, barbecuing, camping, and loved the time he spent with his children and family. Don't Give Up ! This was the last full sentence Delmar was able to spell out to his loving wife Ashley. One form of communication they had left was to have the alphabet recited until he heard the letters to spell what he wanted to say. Don't Give Up! He was battling for survival and could only give a thumbs up but he would be heard. There was nothing Delmar wanted more than to be here for his wife Ashley , daughter Lillyian (11 yrs), son's Delmar Jr (4 yrs) and Robert (1 yr). He was told a month ago the only chance was to have high risk surgery that could possibly give him 3 more months with them. That is all that he wanted. Just more time! Unfortunately, his body could not fight the battle any longer. We lost him April 3rd, 2017. His most prized possessions by his side. His family. In our eyes the surgery was a success by giving him and his family a precious 3 extra weeks to spend together. His speech was gone but he could smile, shed a few tears, blink "I love you too" and give thumbs up to spell short sentences. He fought a hard battle. He only had two requests that he repeated over and over before the surgery. The first: Promise to take care of Ashley and my kids! The second; Don't Give Up! With his painful battle behind him the struggle to heal begins for his entire family. Delmar is survived by is wife Ashley McCormack-Harley; his children Lillyian, Delmar Jr., and Robert Harley; his parents Daniel and Cathy Harley; his brothers Danny and Daymeon; his sister Danielle Baucom, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many good friends. Delmar is preceded in death by his brothers Lennie Cummins, Chris Tilman, and Robert Harley. Although Delmar has departed from this life, he will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
