Obituary of Michael Seyoum

Michael Seyoum was born on January 17, 1964 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to the proud parents of Seyoum Gebrechristos and Abeba Seyoum. He was the first born of three siblings. He attended High School in Nairobi, Kenya. Mike, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, came to the United States in 1981. He initially resided in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he attended Western Michigan University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was later joined in the city by his sister Liya Seyoum. While attending WMU, he met and fell deeply in love with Ada Castillo. They were joined in holy matrimony on August 3, 1991. Together they raised four beautiful children. Mike and Ada were soul mates through and through. On August 3, 2016, they celebrated twenty five years of marriage. Mike was a devoted husband and father and truly loved his family and friends. He had an infectious smile and laugh and was always eagerly willing to help whenever needed. Mike was a resilient entrepreneur. He operated and owned several businesses which included a towing company (Thompson Towing Service), a clothing boutique (Designer’s Choice) and a used car lot (Deals Unlimited). Mike also worked for several companies as a consultant. Cherishing his enduring memory, he is survived by his loving wife Ada Seyoum, his three daughters, Reshan, Liban, Charisse, his son Ricardo, his parents Seyoum & Abeba, his three siblings, Simon, Liya and Derar and a host of family and friends. Mike touched the lives of so many of us and will be truly missed by all.
