OBITUARY
JoeAnn Caper “AKA Joe”
Caper, JoeAnn, 69, of Kalamazoo, MI, transitioned Friday, March 17, 2023, at Rose Arbor Hospice surrounded by a host of family, friends, and prayer. JoeAnn was born Monday, September 15, 1953, in Inverness, Mississippi to Lueddie Jimerson-Caper and Robert Lee Caper. JoeAnn was the second oldest of seven siblings.
JoeAnn’s 14 children are her first Love. She had four biological children and ten adopted children, and her love was equal among them all. JoeAnn enjoyed spending quality time and caring for family and friends.
JoeAnn is a graduate of Old Central High School of Kalamazoo; she met her high school sweetheart James Nicholson aka Butch for many years. Butch was supportive of JoeAnn through her final hours. JoeAnn had a servant's heart! Honorably serving God’s people, she served as a member of the Culinary Ministry at Galilee Baptist Church for many years. She cooked for weddings, private parties, birthday celebrations, neighbors, and family gatherings and her food was superb.
JoeAnn Caper is preceded in death by her beloved Mother Lueddie Jimerson-Caper, Father Robert Caper, Sisters Eddie Lee Caper-Sharp, and Bernie Caper, and Brothers John Caper and Robert Caper. Joe is survived by her 14 children; Tressa Caper of Kalamazoo, Monroe Lamont (Heather) Caper of Kalamazoo, Senta Caper of Kalamazoo, Terone (Barbara) Caper of Aurora Colorado, Todd Caper of Detroit, Willie Caper of Detroit, Christopher Caper of Kalamazoo, Shawn Dodd of Kalamazoo, Samona Caper of Texas, Andrew (Ladonna) Caper, Tajanique Caper, T’yonne Caper, Chanze Caper, and Common Caper all of Kalamazoo, MI., two brothers James Caper, and Sammie Lee (Margret) Caper both of Kansas, her oldest nephew (like a son) Larry Caper, 17 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Family, and friends, and her special friends Louise Williams, Lisa
Williams, and Ruth Williams.
