Obituary of Gale Alfred Mills

On the morning of March 8th, 2023, Gale Alfred Mills, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at 88 in Kalamazoo MI. 

Gale was born to Harry and Hazel Mills on January 28th, 1935, in Battle Creek MI. In October 1961, Gale married Margaret (Garrett) Mills and together they raised 1 son Darwin Mills. Gale moved to Kalamazoo and worked as a general laborer in construction when he was younger then proceeded to work at Shakespeare's for 13 years in Kalamazoo before landing his career job in Janitorial services with the Kalamazoo Public schools where he retired from after 36 years. 

Gale enjoyed spending quality time with family, mowing his lawn and walking his dog, Alex, daily around the neighborhood and socializing with neighbors. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music and looked forward to listening to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio every Friday night until 1 am. He enjoyed watching old westerns and gangster movies. Gale had many stories to share with people about his glory days. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help whoever needed it and never asked for anything in return.  

Gale is preceded in death by Harry and Hazel Mills. He is survived by his wife Margaret Mills, son Darwin Mills, 2 grandsons Jacob and Joshua Mills, 2 great grandsons Theodore and Maxwell Mills. 

Gale is gone but never forgotten and will always be loved by his family and friends.
