Obituary of Devoine Lee Gibson, Jr
On February 9, 1986, God saw fit to bless Regina Troxler and Devoine L. Gibson, Sr. with their first son, Devoine L. Gibson, Jr., in Kalamazoo, MI. “DJ” transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
At an early age, DJ accepted Christ and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Addis Moore at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where his grandfather Rev. Eugene Troxler was also an associate pastor. He was a 2004 graduate of Lithonia High School in Lithonia, GA. After graduation, DJ seized opportunities to pursue his passion in acting. DJ got connected to Acting with Trinity Isle Productions and Central Casting. He was an extra on the movies, “Jumanji”, “Star”, the series and “Greenleaf”. DJ was also a co-anchor on “The Cast”, “Crew Show Radio Show”, WTTR Radio Shows”, “7th and Love” web series, and a Model. He was also a certified CNA in Michigan and Georgia, co-founder/owner of Fruits + Proof LLC, and founder/owner of Red’s Eye Photography. DJ loved working with people and people loved him. He never met a stranger. Once you met him you never forgot him. He loved his family and friends and was an awesome uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
DJ leaves behind to cherish his loving memories, his parents; Regina Troxler and Devoine L. Gibson, Sr.; 1 sister; Cyndee Gibson of Tallahassee, FL; 3 brothers; Jordan McFadden of Lithonia, GA; Darrien and DeQynn Gibson, both of Lansing, MI; 6 aunts; Valerie Sanchez of Grand Rapids, MI, Anita Troxler, Kimberly Troxler, and Marikka Troxler all of Kalamazoo, MI; Dargenae (Andre) Patterson of Fairburn, GA and Grandmother Betty Davis of Fayetteville, GA.
3 uncles; Anthony (Nahid) Troxler of Mission Viejo, CA; Rev. Timothy (Nicole) Troxler of Kalamazoo, MI, and Derrick Gibson of Michigan, aunt Tiffany Gibson(Reggie) Jackson, Waco, TX. God-Family; Tammie Winfield (mother), Talanda Ollie (sister), Lydarius Lester (brother), Jiovanni (John) Fields (sister), Shanette (Kynoee) Johnson (sister), Terence Pope (brother), Ekudayo Leatherman (sister). Along with an extensive host of family, friends, nieces, and nephews that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, Rev. Eugene and Mary Troxler, paternal Grandfathers, Prince Gibson, and Simon “Poppy” Jones, and God-brother Talbert Benito Ollie.
