Obituary of Robert DeShawn Amerson
Robert DeShawn (Bobby) Amerson, 53, fell asleep in death surrounded by his loved ones on October 21, 2022, at 2:22 pm, following an extended illness.
Robert, better known as Bobby, was born on June 30, 1969, to Luretha (Horton) Robinson and Robert Lee Amerson in Battle Creek, MI.
Bobby attended Springfield High School but later transferred to Battle Creek Central, where he graduated in 1989.
Bobby worked for over 15 years at Denso in Battle Creek. He enjoyed cooking outdoors and loved spending time with his family. Bobby loved cooking for others to show off his cooking skills. He loved having cook-offs because he knew he was the best. (lol). Most importantly, he cherished his children, and they were his world.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Robert lee Amerson, his maternal grandparents Pearline Perry and ???, his brother Karl DeVon Amerson, and two nephews, Elijah Williams and Ka’Marion Amerson.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his mother, Luretha (Horton) Robinson, and his children: DeShawn R. Amerson, DeVon S. Amerson, and Nyla’ M. Amerson, all of Battle Creek, MI. His siblings: Ebony (Rudolph) McKinney, Leah (Micheal) Jackson, Dorion (Danielle) Rodriguez, Antoinette (Louis) Cosby, Denise (John) Closby, Gregory Amerson, Kenneth (Latasha) Amerson, Robert Marriello, and Eric Maxison.
Bobby also had three best friends, his son’s mother, Sonja Rice; his other two good friends were more like brothers Richie Betts and Ronald Rogers, and a special brother Corey Stimoff. He was really close to all of his nephews, especially his namesake Robert II, and his nieces that he helped raise like his own: Robert Le’Andra, Tyesha, and Taylor, as well as a host of other loving family and friends.
