Obituary of Geraldine Wallace
Geraldine Wallace (Winfield) was born on January 17, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois and was the fourth of eight children of Magnolia (Poole) and Jack Winfield. Both parents and five siblings, Willie Poole, Joe Henry Poole, Elizabeth Poole, Jack Winfield and Lawrence Winfield preceded her in death.
Geraldine graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School with honors (Chicago, IL) in 1959 where she mastered being a seamstress and lifeguard while at Dunbar. After graduation at 18 years of age she became a model and traveled the world meeting famous people including Billie Dee Williams.
In 1961 she met and married Ronald Wallace, who preceded her in death. They opened up a successful import and export business in Chicago and eventually had three children Ronald, Zemeriah and Ruwa (Ruwa preceded Geraldine in death). The family moved to Michigan in the early 1970s where she was a stay at home mom and gardener. In the 1986 she worked for St. Julian Winery for over 30 years until her retirement.
Geraldine departed this life on September 30, 2022 and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves lasting and loving memories with her loving children Ronald and Zemeriah (Teddy), three grandchildren Zacheaus, Zelendria and Aysia; two sisters Magnolia and Sheila and a host of nieces, great nieces, great great nieces, nephews, great nephews, great great nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
