Debra Williams

Obituary of Debra Ann Williams

Debra “Debo” Williams was born on August 13, 1960, to predeceased parents Joseph Williams and Shirley Williams in New Orleans, Louisiana. She departed this life on September 25, 2022, at Ascension Borgess Hospital. Debra is survived by her two sons Ricky Williams of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Travis Williams of Thibodeaux, Louisiana. A total of eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rickeisha Williams and Anthony Herron Jr. of Napolenville, Louisiana; Ri’Kayla Denise Williams of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Jai’niah Williams, Symphony Williams, Jaden Bridges, Travis Steward, and Layla Sanders all of Thibodeaux, Louisiana. Her three sisters are Cynthia Lewis of Gonzales, Louisiana; Emelda Rhodes of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Tonya Foxx of Goshen, Indiana. Also a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Anyone who knew her loved her. Debo was kind and willing to help anyone she could. When you saw her she would greet you with a big hug, a smile of joy, and a kiss. She was a kind and giving person who was loved and cherished by many. Each time she was in your presence you would definitely have a good time. Debo gets the party started. She loved dancing, laughing, and enjoying life. There was nothing she would say that would surprise you. She knew how to be silly and fun when to be serious, when to be tough and when to keep it real with you by sharing her life experiences. In her free time, you will find her with family, sitting outside on the porch, playing cards, playing BINGO, going fishing, cooking, and living her best life. You did not hear her complain much about life but she always found a way to thank God for his many blessings. She would say “I may not be where I suppose to be but Baby, I am not where I used to be.”

She helped with raising her grandchildren, her great-nieces, and nephews. Whenever anyone needed a babysitter she would be the person to call on. She had a big heart for children and all the children loved her dearly.

Remember, when you smile Debo smiles. When you cry she cries. When you dance, she is cheering you on waiting for her turn. She loved her family and friends unconditionally in her own special way.

Debo, you fought until you could not fight anymore. You were very strong during your transition. We are proud of the life you lived. We are proud of how you loved each of us.

We are proud of how you did not give up when times got difficult. We will never forget the memories we shared with you. We will always hold them close to our hearts. And we will always love you. Forever and ever.
