Obituary of Roger Lester Britten
Roger L. Britten, 70, of Portage, MI, passed away on September 18, 2022 after a short battle with leukemia. He passed peacefully at home with his family.
Roger was born on August 20, 1952 to Alton Britten and Glenna Fee Britten (Younghanz) in Kalamazoo, MI. He was united in marriage to Vivian Owens Britten on October 24, 1981.
He was a machinist by trade. He retired from his favorite job at Bells’ Brewery in 2010 where he had been a maintenance worker.
After retiring, Roger spent time fishing, watching Nascar and scratching lottery tickets. On August 23, 2013 his life changed forever when due to surgery complications, he ended up being in a wheelchair and with other medical issues. But he got around the best he could and still drove and mowed the lawn. Five years ago he started babysitting the apple of his eye, Isaac. He was proud to tell everyone, and he did, that he watched Isaac since he was 4 months old.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Alton Britten and Glenna Younghanz; mother-in- law, Pauline Owens; son, Jason Ross; brother, Dan Britten; sister, Terri Britten Leitz; brother-in-law, Greg Leitz and sister-in-law, Wendy Jo Dorance Britten.
