Obituary of Antonio Shavonno LaBarre

Antonio ‘Tony’O ’Shavanno LaBarre went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at age 53.
Antonio was born to Arnold John LaBarre’ Sr. and Ernestine Frazier on January 28, 1969, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. As a child, he attended Northglade Elementary, Hillside Jr. High and Kalamazoo Central High School.

While serving a twenty-two-year prison sentence in a correctional facility he proudly obtained his GED. Antonio was blessed with a large and supportive family. During his time of incarceration, he and the family never missed a beat.

Antonio returned home with immense gratitude in his heart, springing forth into the arms of his beloved mother, children, siblings, family, and friends.

Antonio was well known for his infamous quotes, affectionate smile, relational skills, infectious laughter, never-ending jokes, and in-depth compassion for family, no matter their age. If ever a moment of intensity, we could surely count on Antonio to shift the atmosphere, even if it were only a facial expression.

A photoshoot was almost, always mandatory in his presence; one of his many expressions of love. He was a protector by nature and a profound momma’s boy. No one could reminisce and tell a story like Antonio; every encounter was archived in his mental Rolodex in great detail.

Antonio is preceded in death by his grandson(s): Ashton LaBarre’, Jamaul Walker Jr; father, Arnold John LaBarre’ Sr.; mother, Ernestine Frazier; stepfather, Bernard Frazier; nephew, Shawn LaBarre’; and niece, Jacinda LaBarre’.

Antonio leaves behind five beautiful daughters: Jessica Vanderville, Antonia LaBarre’, Tonisha LaBarre’, Taquela LeFlore-LaBarre’-Ray and Tianna Gardner LaBarre’. His siblings: Alicia (Harold) Adkins, Arnold (Gail) LaBarre’ Jr., Cetiana (Rufus) Patwin, Dondreal (Lisa) LaBarre’, Kevin (Keke) LaBarre’, Quadonda (Richard McMillon) Armstrong and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 “brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.” Antonio, take your rest. We’ll see you when we get there, this is our hope in the Lord.
