Harvey Eaton

Obituary of Harvey Lewis Eaton

Mr. Harvey Lewis Eaton passed away August 15, 2022 in the home he adored, surrounded by his wife and daughter. Harvey was born on May 11, 1952 in Memphis, TN to Harvey Eaton & Della Mae Wilson. At a young age his family moved to Chicago, IL where he graduated from Cooley High School. Harvey hailed from Chicago and lived there for numerous years. He spoke often of his trials and triumphs while in Chicago and decided to make a change for the better and relocated to Kalamazoo, Michigan where he gave his life to Jehovah, and married Wanda Hooker.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Harvey Eaton, Della Mae Wilson, and his beloved Aunt Ethel Smith. Left to remember his life, laughter, and love are his wife Wanda Eaton, his step-daughters Gwendolyn & Amber Hooker, his Sister Phyllis (Will) McDowell, his Aunt Mary Wooden, his Uncle Alphonso Pankey, Sisters-in-Law Lisa Denise Hooker-Coleman, April Renae (Jeff) Anders, Brother-in-Law Gentry (Debra) Parks, a host or nieces, nephews, cousins, his faithful long-time friends Dennis Hampton and Jon Yarber, and his forever bestman, Denzel Durden.

Harvey will be remembered for his love for the truth and the hope it promises or everlasting life on a Paradise earth, where sickness and death will be no more-Revelation 21:4; the wife and family he cherished, his determined and courageous spirit, quick humor, gregarious laugh, and always having "a joke handy and a good bag of candy", thus the name, Candy Man, given to him by youth and adults alike.
