Obituary of Pearlie Mae Kirk

Pearlie Mae Kirk was born July 20, 1928, to Chester and Effie McPherson (Moore) in Pontotoc, Mississippi, and she answered the Lord's call home on June 9, 2022, at the age of 93. Mother Pearlie Kirk accepted the Lord at an early age. She attended George Washington High School in Pontotoc, Ms. And worked at Harrison Cleaners in Tupelo. Ms. Pearle married the love of her life, Robert Edward Kirk, and resided in Tupelo, Ms. At that time, they had four children. Robert Kirk moved to Kalamazoo and later relocated Pearlie and their children in 1955 to Kalamazoo, where they had two more children. Pearlie worked various jobs until she decided to stay home to become a homemaker and care for her children and, later, all her grandchildren. Pearlie attended the Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of the Truth in Battle Creek, Michigan, then later joined Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C.Mother Kirk was a faithful member of Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C., where she assisted in Prayer Ministry and Mother’s Board, led the Purity Class, and served on the Usher Board. Mother Pearlie’s kind, sweet and loving spirit allowed her to spread the love of God and encouraged everyone she came in contact with. She proclaimed, “Get ready, get ready, be prepared to be with God.” Mother Kirk was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Effie McPherson, brothers: Irving McPherson and James Lee; sister Viola Isaac, husband Robert Kirk, and son Charles Edward Kirk. She leaves to cherish her memories her sister Bernice McPherson of Mt. Clements, Michigan; daughters: Esther (Garner) Gaston of Nashville, Tn., Joyce (Dwayne) Powell, Sr., Barbara (James) Cummings, Sr.; sons Paul (Yolanda) Kirk and Leroy (Gwen) Kirk, all of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mother Kirk was loved and cherished by a host of very special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, and her loving Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. family.
