Obituary of Woodrow Anderson

Mr. Woodrow (Woody) Anderson 87, departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, Ml. Woody was born on May 17, 1935, in Panama City Florida, to Addie Mae Thomas and Claude Anderson. Woody graduated from High School in Panama City, Florida before joining the United States Army and serving as an active combat participant during the Korean War. Woody also earned two associate degrees later in life. After the Korean War, Woody and other family members relocated and settled in Benton Harbor, MI where he married Paulean (Paula) Anderson on November 17, 1965. Over the course of his career, Woody established himself as a hardworking, industrious individual. He held jobs at Auto Specialties, Inc., KPS, and Continental Linen Services where he retired as a supervisor. Woody had an outgoing personality and made friends everywhere. His boisterous laugh and smile lit up a room. He was a social person and had friends of all ages and would be seen with them. Woody loved everyone. Most importantly, he believed in treating all people with kindness, dignity, and respect, he also wouldn't hesitate to help others whenever possible. Woody was always on the go, amongst his many passions, he enjoyed golfing, watching sports, playing cards, automobiles, cooking, shopping, finding deals at thrift stores, and telling stories about his many adventures that made everyone laugh. He was an avid University of Michigan sports fan. Woody was a dedicated source of wisdom, strength, and inspiration to his family, leaving lasting memories in the hearts and minds of his children: Vince Anderson, of Kalamazoo MI, Spencer Anderson of Long Beach, California, and Tiffany (Cory) Cunningham of Kalamazoo, MI; his three grandchildren: Brittny (Martin, Jr.) Peoples of Long Beach, CA; Cameron and Cory Cunningham, both of Kalamazoo, MI; 4 great grandchildren: Kai lani, Dior, Ryder, and Martin, Ill; Special cousin and sister Lillie Ruth Collier of Grand Rapids, Ml. Special cousin Anthony Collier of Grand Rapids, MI. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews, including Kenya (Rev. Thomas) Fields of Benton Harbor and Marvin (Kennethia) Hoyle, Sr. of Kalamazoo. Woody was preceded in death by his wife Paula Anderson, his parents Addie Mae Thomas and Claude Anderson, brothers Richard Thomas, Busta Lee Thomas, sisters Flossie Anderson, Alma Patterson, Luvern Hoyle, Aunt Lillie Mae Smith, special cousin Dionne Whitehead.
