Obituary of Martha Louise Cryer

Martha Louise Cryer was born January 13, 1948, in Charleston, MO to James Griffin and Mary Peals. On May 1, 2022, Martha went home to be with the Lord.
Martha was a proud graduate of Benton Harbor High School. After graduating, she went on to become a cook at Orchard Grove in Benton Harbor. Besides being a cook, she served as the President of the usher’s board at Golden Light Baptist Church. In addition to working, Martha raised her children by herself.
Being a devoted mother, she was able to raise six children herself. Martha leaves her memories with her children: James Griffin of Benton Harbor, MI, Jeffery White of Milwaukee, WI, Piscetta Cryer of Kalamazoo, MI, and Dominique (Marvin) Phillips of Benton Harbor. In addition to her kids, Martha has 17 grandkids and four great-grandchildren.
She had 16 siblings, six of which are still living: James (Shirley) Griffin of Oak Park, MI, Kirt (Teon) White of Colorado Spring, CO and Russell (Alma) Peals of Benton Harbor, MI, Vernita Jones of Southfield, MI, Mary White and Annette (Craymond) Douglas of Benton Harbor, MI.
She also shared cherished friendships with Martha Ann Bradford, Linda Berry, Rosemary Jackson, and Irma Gillispie.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents James Griffin, Mary Peals, and her stepfather Lee Peals; son Charles Griffin, daughter Tasha Cryer; her siblings; Edward Griffin, Janice White, Randy Peals, Rose White, Paulean Anderson, Lucille Harris, Robert Peals, Marsha Covington, and Jerome Peals.
