Obituary of Dametrice Last Murray

Dametrice Last Murray (Meter) was given birth by his parents Gay D. Thompson and Bernard L. Burden on April 29th, 1986. He gained his wings on March 31st, 2022, at the age of 35 years old. Meter has always had a light that shines from within. He loved his family unconditionally, especially his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces. Meter obtained his G.E.D and worked as a Laborer. Dametrice was an amazing son, brother, uncle, and friend. Our family was not expecting the loss of Dametrice or for his life to be cut so short so soon. We are devastated by this loss and will feel the absence of Dametrice forever. Dametrice was the sweetest, kindest, hilarious, most loving soul and a joy to be around with a smile that could brighten any room. He will be forever missed. Dametrice is survived by his parents Gay D. Thompson of Kalamazoo, MI. and Bernard L. Burden of Bragg, MO. paternal grandparents Erma Brown and Alexander Burden of Benton Harbor, MI. Siblings Kanisha Grayson, Dondreal Johnson, and Theodore Thompson Jr. of Kalamazoo, MI. Simara (Joseph) Brooks of Drew, MS. Sheena Looney of Atlanta, GA. Chandra Williams of Kalamazoo, MI. Extended family, sisters Melinda Thompson, Stacey Colbert, Latoya Willis all of Kalamazoo, MI. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Odies and Maudine Murray of Kalamazoo, MI. uncle Otis Murray Jr. uncle Kevin Murray, aunt Joy Murray-Ray, Aunt Queen Smith, and brother-in-law Brian Grayson Sr. all of Kalamazoo, MI. We also want to acknowledge his partner, friend, and lover Simona Dunigan, and best friend, sister Clisha Graves. They stood by Dametrice (Meter) and were incredibly important and supportive of him. Meter is loved and cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
