Obituary of Archie Swindle

Mr. Archie Swindle was called home on March 8, 2022. He was born on January 17, 1943 in Eufaula, Alabama, the son of Willie James Swindle Sr. and Hattie Pearl Bush. He moved to Kalamazoo, MI in the late 1960s. Archie worked in various positions throughout his life, with the City of Kalamazoo being his last tenure. Archie was united in Marriage to Brenda Julian, in May of 1982 and to this union they had 1 son and three daughters. Archie was someone that everyone could depend on. If you called, he would come. If something was broken, he had the tools to fix it. The neighborhood boys considered him a mentor because they knew Mr. Archie had the knowledge to build a bike from scratch or get their cars back on the road, all for the price of listening to one of his “back in my day” stories. He enjoyed fishing, the sounds of Motown, spending time with his family and friends, and getting the children that attend Lincoln and Parkwood-Upjohn elementary schools safely across the street each day. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Pearl Bush; father, Willie James Swindle Sr.; brothers, Frankie Lee Swindle and Willie James Swindle Jr.; sister Genell Bush; grandmothers Valley Floyd and Gessie White Swindle-Lewis; grand daughter; Ariyanna Julian. Archie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Brenda Swindle, 6 children: Veronica (Tommy) Horn, Regina (John) Yarber of Eufaula, Alabama, Archie Julian, Arshia (DeVaughn) Acree, Karla Julian, and Karmen Julian all of Kalamazoo, MI; 7 sisters Dena Carter, Annie Gray, Christine Bush, and Janet Murphy all of Kalamazoo, MI; Betty (Sam) Fardella, Patricia (Sam) Daniels and Ethel Mae (Columbus) Wynn of Columbus, GA; 3 brothers, Walter(Valerie) Bush of Kalamazoo, MI; Robert (Tasha) Swindle, and Thomas Swindle of Columbus GA; 17 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
