Obituary of Dana Martin Winchester

Dana M. Winchester was born on Feb. 14 1955 to Pat and Rita Pero in Kalamazoo, MI. Dana passed
peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Feb. 21, 2022. Dana leaves behind his wife of 35
years Linda (Howard) Winchester and his children Daniel (Renee) Winchester, Sarah Winchester, Bradley
(Rachael) Winchester, Gregory (Candace) Winchester, and Kimberly (Nathan) Lowry as well as his
cherished grandchildren Kaylee, Kristen, Aram, Olivia, Brock, Bailey, Nadia, Clark, and Elliott. He also left
behind his siblings Renee (Daniel) Dunifin and Shelly (Hasan) Alwraikat and several nieces and nephews.
Dana was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Pero. Dana proudly worked for the city of
Kalamazoo for 31 years until he was forced into early retirement due to complications with heart
surgery. After retiring Dana continued to keep busy by volunteering his time and helping his family and
friends whenever possible. Even though the heart surgery made it difficult for him to do all of the things
he could before Dana still continued to not only lend a helping hand to the family and friends around
him, but he also helped provide advice and knowledge when he was unable to physically help. Dana was
a very sociable person; he never met anyone that he didn’t like and was always making new friends
anywhere he went. His home was always filled with the smell of fresh baked cookies and the sounds of
casual conversation and laughter. Dana loved to spread joy to everyone around him whether it was his
family and friends or a person delivering a package to his home; one way he liked to do that was by
baking cookies. Making cookies became a way for him to connect with more people and make them
smile. Dana would make dozens upon dozens of cookies for family gatherings as well as for the church
he attended.

There will be a celebration of life held in honor of Dana on Sunday September 25 th , 2022
between 1pm-5pm at the log home be built; 6062 North 28 th St. Richland MI, 49083.
