Obituary of Bobby Joe Tackett
Bobby "Bob" Joe Tackett passed away on February 7th, 2022 at the age of 75, in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Rose Arbor. His wife and daughters were at his bedside. His battle with serious medical issues in his last few weeks showed his courage in facing life challenges with determination. Despite the pain, Bob stayed strong until he was granted passage into eternal life.
Bob was born to William Henry and Dora Mae Tackett in Pontotoc, Mississippi on July 13th, 1946. He is one of six children; survived by his brother David, and his sister, Dorothy. Bob worked at Triangle Door Company in Mississippi before moving to Highland Park, Illinois. He loved fishing, playing softball, and was a devoted baptist.
Bob met the love of his life, Marilyn, while working at the hospital in Highland Park, Illinois. It was love at first sight and they were married on January 24th, 1984. They have two daughters, Kristina and Angela. He was a devoted husband and father, always putting his family first, even in sickness, he still worked hard to provide. He retired as a Physical Therapy Technician to devote his time to care for his wife. They loved to relax at home and watch movies together, occasionally going to the movie theater to enjoy new ones as well. Always delighted to be with his wife, never separating in the 38 years of marriage. Bob has four amazing grandchildren - Michael, Kari, Kayla, and Addi - who love him very much.
Bob was and will always be known as "that really nice guy" who always makes you smile and laugh. Rarely angry, often making jokes, and not afraid to speak his mind; hilariously not caring who heard him. His catch phrase "Well, the thing about it is..." was when you know he was about to say something "serious".
His favorite bible verse is the KJV version of John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
