Obituary of Tony Briggs, Sr.

Tony Briggs 64 of Battle Creek, MI passed away on January 25, 2022, at home. He will forever be missed by all that knew and loved him dearly. Tony Briggs was born in Chicago, IL., to Hurriah” John” and Luverta Briggs on December 23, 1957. He attended Fernwood Elementary and Harlem High School in Chicago, Illinois. While living in Chicago, Tony worked alongside his father and brother Ray at All Service Heating and Cooling. He also did independent contracting; he took great pride in customer service. However, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing cards and listening to music. Tony is survived by his mother Luverta Briggs, aunt Alberta McDaniel, daughters Tameka Newell of Chicago, IL.; and Lakesha (Corey). His sons Tony (Deshawna), Antonio (Laura) of Battle Creek, MI. His grandchildren: Amarion and Kanika Newell of Chicago, IL. A’miya and A’laya Newell of Detroit, MI. Nylayiaha Smith, Cameron and I’sis Johnson of Battle Creek, MI. Sister Debra Evans. Brothers Ray (Nellie) Briggs of Glenwood, IL. Charles, Letammar, Tremaine Brigg and Raymond Briggs. A host of special friends, nieces, and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his beloved father Hurriah” John” Briggs, sisters Diane and Denise Briggs. Nephews Curtis and Ray Briggs Jr.; maternal grandparents Bishop Lue’Ida Webster, Roosevelt McDaniel, paternal grandmother Fannie Mae Briggs. Our beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend; has fought a good fight and finished his course. He has kept his faith and is resting peacefully with our Lord.
