Obituary of Elena Zuniga

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ELENA ZUNIGA March 4, 1953 – January 21, 2022 Elena Zuniga was born to Manuel Zuniga and Francisca Delia Zuniga in San Benito, Texas. She departed this earthly life in her home Friday, January 21, 2022. She was a resident of Kalamazoo for most of her life. Elena accepted Christ at an early age, and was affiliated with St. Joseph Church. Elena graduated from Loy Norrix High School, studied at Western Michigan University, and received her Social Work Degree. Elena was employed over 30 years with Kalamazoo County Health Department WIC Program. She also provided her support to Migrant Camps, KPS, Head Start, MEHD, and St Joseph Church. She loved helping others and cheerfully served her community. Elena loved spending time with her mother, daughter and grandchildren. Elena loved all types of music and enjoyed dancing, her favorite singer was Prince. Elena had many talents and hobbies such as, sewing, crafts, gardening, bingo, playing cards and going to the casino. She is preceded in death by her Father Manuel Zuniga; two brothers: Manuel Zuniga and Jose Zuniga; her maternal and paternal grandparents. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her mother; Francisca Delia Zuniga one daughter, Antonia Delia Elena Zuniga. Four grandchildren, Jordan, Leticia, Pryce, and Randy of Portage, MI. Three Brothers: Tony (Kim) Zuniga of Portage, MI, Carlos (Carol) Zuniga of Portage, MI, Fred (Linda) Zuniga of Indiana. Two god children: Daniel DeAnda of Kalamazoo, MI, Marisa Briggs of Kalamazoo, MI. Special nephew Jeremy Zuniga of Washington. Special cousin Juanita Snell of Kalamazoo, MI. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
