Obituary of Baraka Demond Humphrey

Baraka Demond Humphrey was born on November 16, 1972 to Mae Turner and Charles Burgess. Baraka attended and graduated from Southside High School in Muncie, Indiana. After high school, he moved from Indiana to Kalamazoo, MI. While residing in Kalamazoo, Baraka started attending Seed of Faith where he later met and wed Nakisha Ramsey. In January of 1994, he fell ill and needed to start his dialysis treatment. In April of 1994, he was blessed with a daughter by the name of Jasmine Humphrey. A little more than a year later in June of 1995 he was blessed with a daughter by the name of Bre’Anna Humphrey. Baraka loved and cherished being a parent and would help them get ready for school. Baraka became involved in the church as a deacon in 1996 and then later on as an ordained minister 2002. He loved spreading the word of God as well as helping in the church whenever available. Baraka was loved by many. He sometimes said that his name was close to the President Baraka Obama's name. In his spare time, he would spend hours listening to gospel music and reading the Bible. He also loved being a grandparent. Baraka is preceded in death by his mother Mae Bell Turner, Father Charles Burgess, Step Father Spencer Turner Grand parents Joe and Versil Lee Myles. He is surviving by his daughters: Jasmine Catrice Humphrey, Breanna Sharee Humphrey. Uncle: Melvin Humphrey Siblings: Marvin Humphrey, Pennie Hulbert, Michael McDade. Grandchildren: Mariah Marie Humphrey, Jayden Bernard Lee Humphrey, Kamora Rose Humphrey. Nieces: Kanisha Hardy, Ellahneissa McDade. Nephews: Demonta Clark, Keyon Hulbert, Dominik McDade, Jayviontae McDade. And a host of nieces, nephews,cousins, and friends. And a special cousin Armunde Kelley. Although Baraka is no longer here, he leaves a footprint of love and strength and will truly be missed.
