Obituary of Mildred Louise Floyd

Mildred Louise Floyd of Kalamazoo, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life, on Thursday, December 9, 2021. She loved her Lord, family and friends and she was loved by many. Millie was born to Ray and May Russell on September 17, 1935 in Rector, Arkansas. She moved many times in childhood following after the harvest and settled in Michigan sometime in the early 1950s and graduated from Kalamazoo Central in 1953. She is survived by one son Terry (Cindy) Floyd of Schoolcraft, one daughter Dawn (Stan) Bolton of Climax, three grandsons Kevin (Danielle) Floyd of Paw Paw, Bradley (Morgan) Floyd of Schoolcraft, Timothy (Rachel) Floyd of Paw Paw and one granddaughter Renee Massey of TN as well as 11 great-grandchildren that were the apple of her eye. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane “Big D” Floyd in May 2014, son Gary Lamar in October 1958, daughter Robin Louise in July 1959, and son Timothy Scott in April 1962. Millie married Duane Floyd on February 6, 1954. They resided in the Kalamazoo Area their entire marriage. Millie and her husband owned and operated Floyd’s Construction for approximately 40 years. She took classes at Davenport University related to clerical and business. Millie had many jobs over the years; H&R Block, Meijer, bank teller, phone operator. She attended Faith of the Apostles Church. She loved to fish and went hunting with her husband. Millie was an avid gardener; both vegetables and flowers. She also loved to read and sew.
