Carole, I am saddened by the loss of James. I have known him for many years and worked with him on hosting the Province Council in Saginaw as the Keeper of Exchequer for the Northern Province - Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He will surely be missed in the Northern Province, and it has left a vacancy in the "Bond." Carole and family, keep the faith, and God will see you through all trials and tribulations. Be Blessed as you all celebrate his homegoing.

Carole,
I am so sorry for your loss. You know how much I respected Jim.
I first got to know Jim Greene when we were both on the City's Economic Development Board. He was smart, insightful, and thoughtful. Jim wouldn't speak just to hear his own voice; instead, he reserved his comments for those matters on which he could offer guidance. And for that reason, everyone knew that when Jim Greene spoke up about something, it was worth listening to.
It was also clear to me that the Kalamazoo business community held Jim in extremely high regard. He knew this community well, and it was an honor to know him.

I was a colleague of Jim's in Strategic Planning at Upjohn. If not for him, I would not have had that opportunity. Why do people go out of their way to give you opportunities, expecting nothing in return? It greatly changed my career. Another memory, in Alabama, interviewing a hospital administrator. Early, stopped at a cafe, that racist cafe. Did not faze Jim, calm in every situation, a dignified man, a highly intelligent man, a wise man, a wonderful sense of humor man, highly perceptive. A gentleman in speech and conduct. A man who served his country. His fascinating stories. I cannot help but think of Colin Powell's recent passage, how he was eulogized, and thinking as noble a man, as brilliant a man, as humble a man, bettering those who knew him, who has left his own profound legacy, that is the Jim Greene, Jr. I know. Let his memory be a blessing.

It was my pleasure to see Jim's commitment to quality and to the community through his work on the Bronson Healthcare Group board. He was stalwart in his attention to detail and in his approach. I was also very fortunate to get to know both Jim and Carole over the last 15 years. Thank you for your service to the community Mr. Greene.

No question about it: JIm Greene was a real gift to Kalamazoo -- A humble and self effacing person with leadership capabilities he used with subtlety -- he quietly got things done, but never pumped his own chest. He moved easily and was known and respected in many different community circles, I observed all those qualities when we worked together on the Family Institute Board many years ago. And Jim always had a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. Yes, indeed, his passing leaves a sad void

Jim was a remarkable gentleman. I enjoyed working with him on the capital campaign for the Kalamazoo Boys and Girls Club. He taught me so much about development and fund raising. But what I appreciated most about Jim was watching him with his family -- he was kind of husband every woman deserves, and the dad and grandfather that every child should have. Kalamazoo has lost a fine community leader, and heaven has gained an angel.
