Obituary of Michael Wayne Hopson, Jr.

Michael Wayne Hopson Jr “Mike Prism” was born February 27, 1979, to Michael Hopson, and Vickie (Hopson) Wooden in Kalamazoo Michigan. Affectionately known to friends and family as “Mikki”, Michael was educated in Kalamazoo Public Schools. He continued his education by attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Michael had a gift of Graphic Arts and Design. He became a remarkable graphic artist through self-teaching by taking to YouTube to develop his craft. He spent countless hours studying to perfect his art and was able to help numerous entrepreneurs market their businesses and brand themselves in their respective industries from 2016 to 2021. Michael “Mike Prism” founded “BlacksOwn” and “Mike Prism Designs”. He was an electronics and graphics Genius. Mike Prism left an unduplicatable legacy in the marketing field, especially in the lives of Representatives of Total Life Changes, a Health and Wellness MLM Business. Mikki was a mentor to his younger brother Cer Bolton and an amazing father to Keira Salter whom he lovingly referred to as his “Princess”. Mikki was and still is A Rock of Pride and Inspiration of STRENGTH to his mother, Vickie Wooden. Michael endured health issues for much of his life, but he kept pushing. On any given day, you could ask him how he was doing and he’d respond, “EXCELLENT.” His light was in his Words: “SUPREME FOCUS” “PEACE and BLESSINGS” “POSITIVE ENERGY APPLIED” “INVEST IN SELF” “CREATIVITY IS KEY” “DO FOR SELF” “PEACE”. But when the struggle became too much to bear and the light dimmed too much to see clearly, the last words he said to his mother were, “I’m going home, Mom.” Michael went home on Wednesday October 6, 2021. Stepbrothers: Brian (Shania) Stephens and Justin (Mary) Stephens. Stepsisters: Tonya Kirkland and Gwendelle Wright. Stepbrother: Harry Ervin Grandmothers: Laura Hobbidy and Rosie Miller Louden. Aunts: Andrea Williams, Cheryl (David) Cathey, Andrea (Michael) Jones, Lorna Scott, Stephanie Hopson Morris, and Carmen Miller. Uncles: Clarence Anderson, Albert Anderson, Henry (Brenda) Hopson, Ronnie (Barbara) Hopson, and Gregory (Cindy) Miller. Great Aunt: Alma Hopson Great Uncle: Alvin Kendall First Cousins: Dion Stephenson, Edrease Stephenson, Andre Stephenson, Deeadra (Jason) Piper, Damieris Tedford Godmother: Theresa Stephens-Lock Close Family Friends: Gwen Gordon, Lorraine Bradley, Marilyn Pulley, Harry Bolton, Mary Williams, Leola Moore, Gabe Scott, Ted Forrest, Daryl Thomas, Dennis Burnside Mikki also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and distant cousins. Michael was preceded in death by: Grandmother: Lille Webb. Grandfathers: Clarence B. Anderson and James Hopson. Great Uncles: Jack, Gerald and Fred McLaurin. Great Aunts: Annabelle, Helen, Rose, and Maxine (McLaurin). Aunt: Katherine Hopson. Uncles: Darrell Duane Stephenson, Alfonzo Hopson Sr. and Gary Miller.
