Obituary of Lamarein LaShaun Ford

Lamarein LaShaun Ford, affectionately known as “Scooter” passed away unexpectedly Saturday October 1, 2016 at his home. He was born February 11, 1982 in Kalamazoo, MI to parents Theresa Ford and Maurice Russell. Scooter attended Portage Northern High School and later attained his diploma through PCEC. Scooter had a strong passion for music and any chance that he could get you would find him rapping. Scooter also had a big heart and a genuine smile that made it easy for a lot of people to love him. Through his social media platform he was able to gain the hearts and support of people from around the world. Scooter would receive messages of support from all over the United States and it even reached to Japan and Africa. Scooter had a special love for children, he was able to connect and make any child smile. Scooter had a great amount of confidence which could be seen in person or through the many videos he made. Scooter was “that guy” and truly one of a kind. The overwhelming support and love shown to Scooter has been tremendous, so we take a moment to say “Thank you” on Scooter’s behalf. In the words of his Mother, “SCOOT NITTY RAN THE CITY!” Scooter was preceded in death by his grandmother Betty Ford of Tupelo, MS; great aunts LueRena Wallace of Kalamazoo, MI, Atleaner Cantrell of Battle Creek, MI, LeeAnna Williams of Aberdeen, MS, Vernell Parker, Nancy Stacy both of Kalamazoo, MI and Mableen Ford of Aberdeen, MS. Scooter leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother: Theresa Ford; father: Maurice Russell; grandparents: Isaac (Dorothy) Ford all of Kalamazoo, MI and Gary (Louise) Russell of Pontiac, MI; a special father Christopher Salters of Kalamazoo MI; special children: Destiny and Alexandria; Sister: Ericka Harris; God parents: Deborah Moore and Michael Jones; God sisters: Sythena Saunders and Hellen Robinson; special siblings: Donte’ Dean and Jalen Clark; maternal uncles Gary Wilson, Isaac Ford Jr. and Randy (Angela) Ford; paternal uncles and aunts: Michael, Gary Jr, Valerie and Sherry; one of his favorite people Tonya Dean and special friend Beth McClurg. Although Scooter was loved by many there was a core of friends that he kept close and loved him dearly. These boys had been through thick and thin with Scooter, they were family and surely made an impact on his life as he did theirs. He also leaves to cherish his memory Justin Palmatier, Kenny “Doe”, Eric and Aaron Jones, Tre Calbert, Tamar Horton, Tyron Pritchett, Travis Fields, Marcus Rand and his favorite cousins Keenan Dunigan, Byron Dickenson, Randy Ford Jr., D’Anthony Ford and Jonathan “Butterball” Williams. Scooter leaves a legacy of love, friendship, an infectious laugh and of course a good 16 bars to a host of family and friends around the world.
