Obituary of Theresa Stokes

Theresa Stokes, 65, of Battle Creek, MI., passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on July 31, 1956, in Memphis, TN., the daughter of George W. Boykins and Mary A. Langston-Boykins. Theresa was a member of Holy Light Baptist Church for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially when it involved being with her grandchildren. Theresa enjoyed playing bingo and cards; she will be greatly missed by all. Theresa is survived by her sons: Torby Boykins, Walter (Debbie) Lee Stokes, and Timothy Stokes; one daughter, Shannon Marie stokes, all of Battle Creek, MI.; her mother Mary Alice Boykins; sisters: Melva Boykins of Memphis, TN., Brenda Boykins, Mary (George) Wilson, Kim Chase, and Wanda Smiley; brothers Ladon (Shalene) Boykins and Jimmy Boykins all of Battle Creek MI.; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind one aunt, niece’s, nephew’s, cousins, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Boykins, brothers George Boykins Jr. and Timmy Boykins, and one grandson Walter Lee Stokes III.
