Obituary of Eddie D'Vontae McPherson
Eddie D’Vontae McPherson, also known as “Tators”, was born in Kalamazoo, MI on March 3rd, 1996 at Borgess Hospital to Eddie and Robin McPherson. He passed away suddenly on May 22nd, 2021.
Eddie dedicated his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. He attended services at Galilee Baptist Church. Eddie obtained his GED and finished high school early. He was currently enrolled at Phoenix University to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship. His dream was to open a comedy club in downtown Kalamazoo.
Tators was very outgoing and loved to be around family and friends. He enjoyed spending quality time with his children, grilling, telling jokes, and listening to/recording music. He always had a big smile that would light up the room or brighten a gloomy day. He was also very caring and willing to do a favor for anyone, big or small. He never met a stranger.
Eddie is survived by three daughters to carry on his legacy: Emani McPherson, Brielle McPherson, and Heaven McPherson (who is due to enter the world June 9th, 2021) all of Kalamazoo, MI. He also leaves to cherish his memories his father and mother, Eddie and Robin McPherson of Kalamazoo, MI; siblings: Astasia McPherson of Atlanta, GA; D’Mario McPherson, and Takara McPherson, both of Kalamazoo, MI; as well as his very special nieces and nephews Khourtnii “KoKo” Pratt, Key’mora “Peanut” McPherson, Juelz “JuJu” McPherson, Amirah “MyMy” McPherson, and Josiah “Joey” McPherson; and a host of family and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by: Lossie McPherson (grandmother), Tommie McPherson (grandfather), Myles Cassidy (grandfather), Terry McPherson (uncle), and Joe McPherson (uncle).
Eddie and his personality will truly be missed. He always brought good energy and always had a way to make a person smile. The last post on his social media said that he wanted to get closer to God. We now know that his wish has been fulfilled and he is at peace.
