Obituary of Johnnie Bertha Davis
Celebrating the life of Johnnie Bertha Davis, who was called home on May 10, 2021 to be with her mother (Callie Mae Davis-Brewer) Father (Tampie Wells) Daughter (Shirley Ann Davis) Grandson (Andrew Davis) and sister (Mary Jean Dunigan). Johnnie B. Davis was born in Bigbee Valley, Mississippi on September 9, 1951 to the Mother of Callie Mae Davis-Brewer and father Tampie Wells both of Mississippi.
She moved to Kalamazoo, MI roughly 40 years ago. Back in her prime she attended Beauty School as she enjoyed doing hair and later graduated to pursue a career in cosmetology. Her last job attended was working as a daycare aid at the Christian Life Center here in Kalamazoo. In her younger years she enjoyed dressing up and going out to bingo and casino, which was called “The Boat”. In her later years of life, she enjoyed being with her family, cooking, and smoking her “feel good”.
Johnnie was known for her hard work, her genuine love, her jokes, her passion for helping others and her “hands”. Her love and care for others never went unnoticed. She touched everyone in her own special way, everyone who knew her loved her, and to know her was to respect her. May her spirit continue to shine, and her legacy continue to grow and stay strong. She will truly be missed.
Johnnie leaves behind her legacy of children: Maurice Davis and Chrissy Miles, Trinisha Davis, Rotanya Davis, and Kunta Davis; her grandchildren: Mya Davis, Que’Marion, Brooklyn, Savannah Davis, Aysha Davis, Jada, Jaylijah, Jaylyn Jones, Martez Bell, Tanea Whitfield, Deallen Blackburn, Aries, Rashayia, Latavion, Jonathon Davis, Nevaeh Anderson and Zyaire Davis; her siblings: Herbert C Davis, Johnnie Davis Jr., Ida Ruth, James Jr., Anthony, Angela, Maxine and Demond Brewer, Edward and Rosie Wells all of Mississippi, Elnor Hayes and a special stepsister Evelyn McCoy of Kalamazoo, MI.; closes nieces and nephews: Mary Denise, Alunda, and McArthur Jamison and Kanesha Dunigan, Cal’Marsha and Shabrya Hayes all of Kalamazoo, MI and a host of many other nieces and nephews and many more family and friends.
Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents Callie Mae Davis-Brewer and Tampie Wells; her daughter Shirley Ann Davis, grandson Andrew Davis, sister Mary Jean Dunigan, grandsons: Andrew Davis, and Jeremy Harris; granddaughter Chiesha Davis, and great-grandson Andrew Davis Jr.
