Obituary of Edna Jean Babbitt
Ms. Edna Jean Babbitt departed this life on April 10, 2021, at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born October 31, 1958, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Rosie Wallace & Eddie White. Edna graduated from Old Central High School and continued her education at Kalamazoo Valley Community College where she studied Criminal Justice. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Upjohn Nursing Home for five years. Edna then changed careers to be a Machine Operator for Checker Motors up until her retirement.
Edna is survived by her two daughters Jacima White and Neiosha (Ritchie) Holloway. Her five Grandchildren, (who she affectionately nicknamed) Kecion "Ketch" Felix, Ra'nya "Boo Boo" Rolland, Jontae "Chops" Holloway, Kaylon "Lank" Anderson, and N'Quay "Water" White, and one great-granddaughter Rihley "Dank" Pratt. Her three sisters, Carolyn White of Kalamazoo, Irene White of Georgia, and Angela Wallace of Kalamazoo. Her three brothers, Donald "Kelly" White of Kentucky, Michael White of Grand Rapids, and Nathan Wallace of Kalamazoo, and a host of nieces & nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Rosie Lee Wallace & Eddie White, three uncles & her grandparents.
Edna enjoyed listening to music, traveling, watching movies, spending time with family, and creating new memories with her great-granddaughter.
Edna who affectionately went by her middle name Jean will be missed by many. Over the years, she lovingly fulfilled the role of mother, nana, aunt, sister, and friend to many. Edna will forever be remembered for her strength, her no-nonsense attitude, and her strong will.
