My grandmother was the most amazing woman I have ever met.
She taught me so much and every lesson was a literal adventure. She was the most kind and caring person and I cherish every bit of myself that reminds me of her.
Rest well and know I will always love you.

My cousin Phyllis was 13 years older than I was but I remember as a child she came to spend the summer at our house (her Uncle Jack's house) in Illinois and she found work locally. I guess Cassopolis Michigan in those days didn't have much employment available. Phyllis found a job working in a factory that made plastic beads. She brought lots and lots of beads home to us kids, we just loved it. And then there was the creek fiasco and Phyllis had us fill our gym shoes with dirty creek water and snails. I don't know why it was important to bring snails home but I don't think my mom (her Aunt Kay) was too happy about that! Her stay made it a fun summer. She went on to drive a tractor trailer truck and she made an unscheduled stop by our family home. She pulled the truck up in the front yard, barely had room to fit. She was surely one that didn't fit in an certain mold. A one of a kind. Peace and condolences sent to her family and friends. RIP cousin Phyllis. With loving memories, Diane Landes (Hemmerich)
