Obituary of Gary Lee Kalleward
Farewell letter to a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
We are beyond blessed to have so many wonderful memories of the time we shared. You were an absolute giant of a man, who loved and laughed every day and showed us how to do the same.
Your life was a life of love poured out without limit. It was a life of faith. Jesus said, “Come follow me.” and you said “Yes.” You loved God with all your heart, just like you loved your family with all your heart, and your friends and neighbors and the strangers you met on your long walks and travels. All of us are better and stronger having been a part of your life.
That great big heart never stopped singing your family’s praises. We KNEW how proud you were of all of us; we saw it in your eyes, in your smile, and felt it in your voice and warmth.
Your overflowing generosity spoiled us. Too much maybe, but that’s who you were. You didn’t care if it was too much and you didn’t care if you were exhausted. You gave more, loved more and cared more. You had a thousand ways to show your love, and you used them all.
We are so very proud of you. You ran your race well and finished strong. We have received your baton of selflessness and love and empathy and will run and carry it in our lives in your absence.
We love you so very much!
John 14:2-3

My Father’s home is designed to accommodate all of you. If there were not for everyone, I would have told you that. I am going to make arrangements for your arrival. I will be there to greet you personally and welcome you home, where we will be together.
