Obituary of Ernestine Frazier
Ernestine Frazier a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, aunt, cousin, sister and
beloved friend. Born January 17, 1942 to Emmanuel Box and Lenora Goines in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Ernestine obtained an education at the Old Kalamazoo Central High School. She later received a
certification in the medical field where she practiced as a Certified Nurses Assistant. Ernestine passed
down the moral importance of caring for others to her children.
As Ernestine approached the gates of heaven on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Bernard Frazier; father, Emmanual Box, mother, Lenora Goines; children’s father,
Arnold John LaBarre’ Sr.; sister, Marrion Nichols; brother(s), Lyle Nichols, James Nichols, Lawrence
Nichols and William Nichols; grandson(s), Shawn LaBarre’; Jocceem Armstrong, Kevin LaBarre’ Jr.
granddaughter, Jacinda LaBarre’; great-grandson(s), Jamaul Walker Jr., King LaBarre’, Ashton LaBarre’,
and Kayson Cooksey.
Ernestine leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: seven children Alicia (Harold) Adkins, Arnold
(Gail) LaBarre’Jr. , Cetiana (Rufus) Patwin, Donderal (Lisa) LaBarre’, Kevin (Keke) LaBarre’, Antonio
LaBarre’ and Quadonda Armstrong. Twenty four grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren,
cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom she all loved and adored immensely.
Ernestine was a phenomenal woman inside and out. We will miss her beautiful face; spirit, chic hairstyles,
stylish clothing and matching accessories. The sound of good soulful music has saturated our hearts and
has been passed down from generation to generation. Today and forever more we give Ernestine a huge
thanks for that. Let’s not forget she was also the queen of dance, finger tapping and a cool, head-nod.
Our family, friends and city would gather and celebrate life at her home with endless laughs, wholesome
memories, good food and fun; free to be authentically true to ourselves.
Matthew 25:35-40 reads “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave
me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was
sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. “Then the righteous will answer
him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When
did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick
or in prison and go visit you? “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Because of that passage alone we can all rest assured Ernestine has made it into those pearly gates.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
