Obituary of Eric Cummings

Eric Cummings was born October 10, 1964 in Battle Creek, MI, to Eugene & Barbara Jean (Banks) Cummings. Receiving Christ at an early age, Eric was a long-time member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and received his formal education from Battle Creek Central High School. After finding his footing in the workforce, Eric established himself as a loyal, trustworthy, and hard worker, dedicating 30 years of service to Post Cereal. Meeting his wife, Javae Cummings at work, Eric was a devoted husband and a loving father who poured out his heart for his family. A man of many hats (literally), Eric could faithfully be spotted by his sharp suits, classy shoes, old-school cars, classic jazz music, and most importantly his infectious smile! Preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Barbara Jean Cummings, Eric exchanged his life for eternity on December 1, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Javae Cummings, his children, Garon Fisher, Micayla (Durand) Robertson, Joshua Cummings, and Damond Cummings; siblings, Carla McClenney, Tony Banks, Kenneth Cummings, Cassandra Portes, Cameron (Tannis) Cummings and Kyle Baker; nephews, Robert McClenney III, Isaiah Cummings and Kyle Baker II.; nieces, Rameca McClenney, Kendra Cummings, Rickelle Portes, Shamya Banks, Aliyah Baker and Brooklynn Baker; and a host of cherished relatives and special friends. Eric will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him! A light in the midst of darkness, he was blessed with the gift of giving and love, and not only shared his love with his immediate friends and family, but through love managed to transform lives throughout the entire city of Battle Creek, MI, and beyond.
