Obituary of Clara Smith

Mother Clara Smith a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, entered into eternal rest on December 6, at Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo after a lengthy illness surrounded by family and friends. Mother Smith was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on September 8, 1944. She married and moved to Chicago, Illinois. Mother Smith then moved to Saginaw, MI and resided there working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She then moved to Kalamazoo, MI to be closer to her children. Mother Smith professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Rock of Ages Church of God in Christ. Mother Smith was a woman of God and will be most remembered for her kind and giving heart. She spent her leisure time knitting, gardening, studying the Bible and feeding anyone who would visit. Mother Smith is predeceased by her daughter, Brenda L. Morris. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Tate, her grandchildren; Eric Benard, Christina Benard, Lee (Lydia) Smith, Brendan Smith, Zaron Tate, Walter Beard and Kymeil Beard all of Kalamazoo; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, her loving sister Fannie Tate of Kalamazoo along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. Although Mother Clara Smith has departed from this life, her life and legacy will live on through all who knew and loved her.
