Obituary of Dorothy Ann Walker
Dorothy “Meme” Walker, 67, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer on December 1st, 2020 at home with her family by her side. Dorothy was born to Kenneth C. Todd, Sr. and Geneva (Lee) Todd, on August 7, 1953 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Dorothy was a lifetime resident of Kalamazoo. She retired from Parchment Public Schools after 29 loyal years of service.
Dorothy’s loving family, cherished extended family, and treasured friends were her first priority and they ALL meant the world to her. She had a nurturing and selfless disposition and would do anything for anyone, helping others brought her pure joy. She was the kindest, most compassionate person to those she loved and to anyone she met who was in need. The students and colleagues she worked with at Parchment Public Schools remember her as generous, kind and thoughtful decades after she came into their lives. She would help students (and anyone) in need without being asked in absolutely any way she could. Dorothy loved to travel and make memories with her family; the Smoky Mountains and Mackinac Island held a special place in her heart. Dorothy’s family will forever be her legacy. She impacted the lives of many, and her fighting spirit will never be forgotten. We love you Meme.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Kenneth Todd, Sr. and Geneva (Lee-Todd) Pelletier, step father George Pelletier, Sr., brother Kenneth Todd, Jr., and granddaughter Charity Bradeen. She is survived by her fiancé James Hough of Kalamazoo, her daughter Jean (Michael) Bradeen, her son Chad (Sara) Walker, her daughter Heather Liss, six grandchildren, Ashley (Cody) Saddler, Ryan (Sydney) Bradeen, Kylynn (Alex Coulombe) Bradeen, Brayden Liss, Lilian Liss, and Olivia Walker; four great grandchildren, Izzabelle DeLong, Brooklynn DeLong, Lukas Saddler, and Michael Saddler; one stepson, Wesley Hough and one step grandchild, Haleigh Hough; three sisters, Cookie Koetje, Gail (Joe) Fuentes, Liz (Tim) Morris, and a sister-in-law Joyce Todd; four brothers, Mike (Faith) Todd, Larry (Toni) Todd, Carl (Laura) Todd and George (Roberta) Pelletier, Jr.; several nieces and nephew, and cherished extended family Brook (Daniel) Boring and their three children Tampson, Avery, and Jayce; Cassie (Jeramiah) Brown and their son William; Mike Gay; Mary Fawley and her two sons, and many others.
