Obituary of Josephine Lelia Lewis
Josephine Lewis was a beautiful proud and caring person. She was born August 29, 1940 to John and
Mary Ewing in St. Louis MO. She was their only child.
September 23, 2020, she peacefully in her sleep transitioned home to be with our heavenly father.
Josephine grew up in St. Louis MO where she graduated from Sumuner High School. She later married
Arthur Lewis Sr., within that union she had 7 beautiful children.
She later moved to Kalamazoo MI to provide a safer home life for her children.
She was then employed by Bronson Hospital for many years in Security where she retired from in 1995.
She began to volunteer for Senior Services where she worked at Borgess Gardens as a Senior Companion
for many years which she loved until she started her batter with Uterine Cancer.
Josephine fought a long battle and it became more than she could bear so her father came and relieved
her burdens and took her back home with him. She no longer has to fight to live.
She was proceeded in death by her Father, John and her Mother Mary, her Son Clifton, Granddaughter
Tanisha, and her Great great grans Ahmazing and Ahmad, may they all continue to rest in peace.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her Daughters Eileen (Dallas TX), Verletta, Evelyn and Angela.
Her Sons Arthur Jr. and Clinton. 20 Grandchildren, 17 Great great grandchildren and 6 Great great
grandchildren.
Josephine was also a member of the Eastern Star’s
She leaves behind a very special someone James Jones
Josephine had a beautiful long life and lots of loving friends who will miss her dearly
