Obituary of Janice Marie Walker

Janice Marie (Russell) Walker, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother born January 15, 1938, passed away July 6, 2020. Janice was born in Kalamazoo, MI to Clifford M. Russell and Hazel D. (Haywood) Russell. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1956, while later attending Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The greater part of her work experience was spent working for the State of Michigan. She began her career as an attendant nurse at the Kalamazoo State Hospital and retired as a certified electrician at the State prison in Jackson, Michigan. Janice leaves behind two brothers, Aaron Bruce Russell of Portage, MI, and John Jacoby Jackson of Gainesville, Florida. A sister, Beverly Russell, deceased at birth and a brother, Matthew Eugene Russell of Tacoma, Washington also deceased. Janice has five surviving children: Dyett Gill of Paw Paw, MI, Edward Russell of Mattawan, MI, Wendell (Sarah) Walker of Farmington Hills, MI, Clifford Walker of Paw Paw, MI, and John (Karen) Walker of Lansing, MI. A twin son, Wayne, was deceased at birth. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A private service for family will be held with cremation handled by Whitley Memorial Funeral Home. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
