Obituary of Reva Marie Goodwin

Reva Marie (Anderson) Goodwin entered her heavenly mansion on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the age of 94. Reva was born on May 18, 1926 in Saginaw Michigan, the daughter of Florence Anderson. Reva graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1944. Reva married Othello W. Goodwin on July 27th, 1946, and to this loving union seven children, 2 girls and 5 boys were born. Mom accepted the Lord as her personal savior and became a loyal member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Mabry Gardner and a current member under Rev. Dr. T Scott. After raising all her children, Reva reentered the workforce in the fall of 1983 as a para-pro for Kalamazoo Public Schools where she became a second grandmother to the students and staff. Reva enjoyed watching her children in sports, playing family games and was an avid sports fan. She loved her family and her neighborhood. Mom loved her music, she played it loud and proud. In her “hayday” she was known for her dance moves especially the “jitterbug”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Othello W. Goodwin Sr., three sons, Othello W. (Huck) Jr., Clifford D, Vaughn M Goodwin and one daughter, Marlene K (Goodwin) Sales. Reva leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Darlene M Goodwin of Kalamazoo, Mi: Two sons, Vance L (April) and Rutherford A (Vanisha) Goodwin all of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Twenty-one (21) grandchildren, thirty-five (35) great-grandchildren and three (3) great, great-grandchildren. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We will miss your wisdom, special talks, quiet strength, your sense of humor and especially your smile. Always loving you and forever in our hearts. Darlene, Vance and Rudy
